Contemporary Artist

What began as a moment of realization during COVID lockdown—watching countless cardboard packages arrive and disappear into waste—has evolved into a practice that transforms the discarded into the essential. Working primarily with wood, cardboard, and metal, I create lighting installations and sculptures that challenge our relationship with materials and waste.

My journey started at seventeen when I enrolled at St. Joost School of Art & Design in Breda, though I soon discovered that formal structures couldn’t contain the creative freedom I needed. Now, decades later, that same rebellious spirit drives my self-taught practice, where I’ve developed techniques using laser engraving and cutting to reimagine everyday materials.

Central to my work is a simple yet profound philosophy: there is no waste material—only material with untapped potential. Just as humans possess multiple talents, every piece of discarded wood, every cardboard box, every scrap of metal holds the possibility for transformation. I crush complexity into essence, thinking in two dimensions while building in three, creating works that speak to both the eye and the conscience.

My process is intentionally intimate. I keep my art close to myself, drawing inspiration from subjects that genuinely move me, then translating these personal connections into pieces that can spark joy and reflection in others. The community is my ideal audience—not because I seek validation, but because I believe art should be accessible, meaningful, and capable of bringing happiness to everyday life.

Through my lighting and sculptures, I aim to demonstrate that transformation is always possible. What appears to be waste is simply material waiting for its next purpose, much like the creative potential that exists in all of us.
